Areas of Work

Wills and Inheritance Tax Planning

A Will is a legal document in which you appoint executors to ensure that your exact wishes regarding all aspects of your Estate are carried out thereby preventing future problems. We can also advise on Inheritance Tax issues and ways of mitigating the eventual liabilities with the appropriate estate planning.

Living Wills

A Living Will ensures your wishes with regard to medical treatment are carried out in the event of you being unable to convey them.

Deed of Variation

These are used to vary the terms of the Will of a deceased person and are a useful way for families to undertake inheritance tax planning.

Probate

We are very experienced in dealing with the administration of a person’s estate and can help in a practical and sympathetic way with all of the legal necessities.

Lasting Power of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which enables you to choose a person or persons that you trust to make decisions on your behalf about things such as your property and affairs or personal welfare. Once prepared, the document can be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian at a time in the future when you no longer wish to make decisions for yourself or you lack the mental capacity to make decisions yourself. We can deal with the preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney as well as registration of existing Enduring Powers of Attorney.

Court of Protection

The Court of Protection has powers to make decisions in relation to property and affairs and personal welfare of adults who lack capacity to make those decisions themselves where there is no valid Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney to be registered. In such circumstances it may be necessary to appoint a deputy to continue making decisions on behalf of the Court but under the Court’s Supervision. We can assist in preparing the necessary applications to the Court for an appointment of a Deputy.

We provide advice on practical issues and obtaining financial assistance for the elderly.
